Following the success of the extended (2 week) gig in Morecombe England, the 'TRAKKERS' BBC TV 'One Night Stand' appearance, and very successful regular gigs for the American Submarine and Airforce bases in Scotland, WILSON felt strongly that the Band should now head south to LONDON. The music industry was very progressive in London at that time, and WILSON felt that the band was well positioned to be discovered by some A&R executive in SOHO. .... Tin Pan Alley .... The move south of the border was the demise of the band, but was the very springboard that propelled WILSON to further develop his creative skills. After the members of the band followed their paths, WILSON set out to work more fully on his artistic pursuits.
THE WHO
WILSON will not elaborate regarding his experiences during these few years in LONDON, except to say that he fully participated in the alternative culture which had developed and blossomed, and that this was a very creative and 'hip' period of his life.
He recalls the time he spent with 'The WHO' during a most explosive time in their career ..... When they played at the 'Round House, Chalk Farm in London, WILSON became caught up in one of the most aggressive and memorable 'FREAK OUTS'.
My Generation
Unfortunately, due to extensive travels, WILSON has lost very valuable photographic records of his time with the WHO, but has discovered an old record of this era ...HIS GENERATION witnessing Pete Townsend attacking the Band's equipment.
WILSON has many memories of the 60's in LONDON, and considers that he was indeed blessed to have had the experiences that he had. Much of the 'Agony and Ecstasy' of His artistic life has helped to give Him the right perspective on life, and indeed on each of our lives. He used to also be part of a group of musicians who would often meet in the West End and catch some of the 'hot property' bands such as one of his favourite bands 'The Cream'. Anyone who was anyone on the London scene at that time, would always make sure that they would catch this dynamic trio. As far as guitar was concerned 'Eric Clapton' was KINGPIN.
