JUNGLE AND CAVE EXPERIENCE

How often in a lifetime do we get the opportunity to visit a cave which has yet to be finished for public viewing. The walkway within the cave was still under construction when the owner of the Royal Mulu  Resort (Dato Robert Geneid) invited WILSON, his wife Yvonne,  Alan Robinson and his wife Monica

To go to the National Park to visit a new cave that was still under construction.

This involoved a short trip by longboat to the park, and then further travel by longboat to reach access to the new cave.

The small party  were taken through the jungle to the cave by the National Park’s manager Brian Clarke and his wife Sue.

Although WILSON had visited famous caves in Majorca off the coast of Spain, this was his first taste of the magnificent cave system in Sarawak.

Ready for the Cave experience

      WILSON’s walk through the jungle
“MAGNIFICENT” doesn’t do justice to this cave WILSON was speechless as he took in the magic of nature, and to realize that this virgin cave had been entered only very recently by a few people. Stalagtites and stalagmites that were beyond ‘worthy’ description appeared at every turn in the cave.

Coming from the hot chaos and beauty of the jungle into the cool and sculptured beauty of the caves overwhelmed WILSON …. As he was leaving the cave he felt inspired to play his blues harp as a parting gift to the inhabitants of  the cave .. You could ask why WILSON would disturb the quietude of the cave; When asked, he said, “  This magnificent cave needed to be aware of my appreciation for it’s outstanding beauty, and what better way than to give it a unique experience that will spiritually resound within it’s structure for ever.”

WILSON could not wait to get started on a painting which would be of one of the areas in this cave. He said that for anyone who is blessed with a fertile imagination and an appreciation of form, these rock formations are full of content that can be captured by the subconscious and never forgotten. Although these sculptures of nature are fashioned over many  years, they  present very subtle forms which are recognizable with reference to our life’s experiences…… it’s almost like viewing a magnificent sunrise and cloudscape where our senses feast upon the ever changing forms which we subconsciously recognize.

A Photograph that WILSON just had to have
